[VIDEO] Duncan Nugget® #78: Seize The Opportunity

Jun

Recently, I asked a friend, “Why are you procrastinating about this opportunity?” He answered, “I’m not procrastinating. I’m being patient.”

There is a thin line between patience and procrastination.

On one side, you seize opportunities. Awesome. On the other side, you snooze on opportunities. Not awesome.

“Opportunities multiply as they are seized.” That’s from the Art of War. It means that when you snooze on one, you miss others you can’t even see. That’s why you must understand the difference between patience and procrastination.

Patience is taking a calculated risk. Procrastination is avoiding risk.

Patience is making time to learn what to do. Procrastination is knowing what to do and not doing it.

Patience is saying, “This will take awhile so, let’s get started now.” Procrastination is saying, “I’ll get to it sooner or later.”

Of course, later never comes.

[VIDEO] Duncan Nugget® #19: The Gap Between What You Know And What You Do

Mar

Knowledge is power.

That’s one of the biggest lies, myths, and misconceptions about success. At best, that statement is only halfway true because it’s only half of the statement.

Knowledge is power IF…you use it.

I’ve read about this concept in literally hundreds of personal and professional development books. I’ve listened to it in hundreds of audio programs. So, it’s not like this is some big secret or some new concept. But… a lot of people just don’t get it.

The gap between what you know and what you do is crucial to your success. Most people aren’t unsuccessful in life because they don’t know what to do. They are unsuccessful because they don’t DO what they know how to do.

[VIDEO+ACTIVITY] Duncan Nugget® #256: Feeding Your Willpower

Mar

A judge, a criminologist, and a sociologist were on a parole board. In case you don’t know, a parole board decides whether or not a prisoner gets parole—time off of a prison sentence for good behavior.

Researchers studied this parole board during its day-long sessions and found out that prisoners who were seen right after lunch or a snack break had a 60% chance of getting parole. Prisoners who were seen right before lunch or a break only had a 20% chance of getting parole.

Why?!

It’s because willpower requires energy. The food you eat is turned into glucose-a pure, simple sugar that’s energy for your body.

If you have to take an exam, work on a big project, or make a tough decision—like deciding whether or not to release a criminal—feed your willpower. It’ll help you have more self-control and make better decisions.

Million-Dollar Question:
Have you been properly feeding your willpower?

[VIDEO] Duncan Nugget® #12: Paralyzed By Choice

Feb

“I have so many things I could do that I don’t know what I should do!”

Students and professionals say things like that all the time. I understand why.

In a famous research study, more people stopped to taste jams at a table with 24 flavors, but more people actually made a purchase at a table with 6 flavors.

Having too many choices exhausts your brain, stifles creativity, and kills motivation because you end up feeling overwhelmed and develop a fear of making the wrong choice.

When it comes to dreams, goals, and aspirations, most people aren’t suffering from a lack of choices, they’re suffering from lack of ability to make a choice.

Successful people do their research, make a choice, and adjust based on the consequences. They refuse to be paralyzed by choice.

Million-Dollar Question:
How determined are you to avoid being paralyzed
by the fear of making the wrong choice?

[VIDEO] Duncan Nugget® #202: Live Your Life

Feb

A few years ago, I saw the following statement on a student’s Facebook status:

“Oh I get it! The point of life is to live.”

As you can imagine, his status immediately generated a couple of sarcastic comments:

“omg”

“lol”

“AHAHA you hit the nail on the head didnt you?”

People were clowning him and I’m not sure if he was serious or not , but that is a profound statement: the point of life is to live.

A lot of people spend their whole life dying. Dying from stupidity. Dying of mediocrity. Dying of boredom. Dying of loneliness. And the list goes on. They do nothing. They just fade away and completely waste a precious gift.

Enjoy your life.

Do something awesome with your life.

LIVE your life. You deserve it.

Million-Dollar Question:
Are you really living your life?
